Insta-Life
Mr. Hotpot surprised me with a Keurig machine on Valentines. Not that I'm a coffee drinker, but at least now I can make better coffee not from 3-in-1s.
This is not the most exciting thing to do, but I wanted to be screened for colon cancer. When I told my family physician, she was like "you're not even 50 yet." But I insist. I'm not a doctor, but I think this is the first step.
Lindor is my favourite chocolate. And cookies & cream are the best!
Do you take photos inside the store? I wanted to see if this will make the cut in our house. It's from my favourite home store, Home Sense. It's right beside where Sushi goes for Karate class. That is so dangerous!
Another one from Wicker Emporium, what didn't make the cut.
My mom brought this sungka (mancala game) all the way from Manila. If not being played with, it is my tea light holder.
No place like... IKEA. My source of design inspiration. This is Pinteresting for my TV room.
Joe's Plantain chips. I'm going back for more to hoard!
Please stop snowing.

T&T
Chinese New Year is around the corner, so lately I have been doing my groceries at the Asian market. I haven’t been to T&T in ages, but now that we’ve moved – danger - we’re darn close. Is it just me, but everything they carry makes you grab at first sight?
Did I say T&T does rip your wallet too???
Cheers to a bountiful new year! 恭喜發財!
Crablets

Squid Tentacles
Squid Tentacles
Jasmine Green Tea - did I just hoard?
These buns give me sanity some mornings.
Haw Flakes. Nostalgia.

Fried Ice Cream
How big is the fried ice cream? The server said "softball." I'm glad my boys have played softball so I knew right away, we have to order 2 of this.
Nevermind that it is $7.95 a piece. There might be bloodshed at the restaurant if the 4 of us have toshare fight over one.
See why? It's the coconut ice cream and the combination of hot, cold, crunchy and soft that makes this heavenly.
We ordered, among others, our all-time favourite Thai dish - the Red Curry chicken.

You can tell, I thought it was soup!
The kids had the Satay skewers of chicken with peanut sauce.
Sometimes I forget it is not my home. I pile the dirty dishes.

I love the interior, the decors, the ambiant music, and the sound of the waterfalls, it makes for an excellent dining experience even if the food's not the greatest. Make exception to the Fried Coconut Ice Cream and the Thai Iced Tea. I would go back for these two.

KFC Hopping
I have loved KFC all my life. It is no coincidence that I happen to have also worked there. I really wanted to be part of the team. I landed in the Commissary.
On our recent trip, we tried Hong Kong's KFC. This is their combo sets and choices for side dish.

The mushroom sauce is much like the gravy already.
They also got Portuguese egg tart for dessert

Each KFC has a resident "Food Master" and "Chicken Master" as per below. I'm also a food master... at home =]
In Manila, I like the Hot Shots. I order it with rice on the side.
The best part is the refillable gravy. Mr. Hotpot thinks it's soup.
Previous post on KFC, here.

The Year That Was - 2011
Last year I made a request to cut down my hours at work. Thanks to very considerate management, it pushed through. I lost a bit of income there in exchange for more precious family time. I’ve used the word ‘sanity’ a lot since I became a mom twice over. This new schedule has certainly had me keep mine. In fact it has paved for better much blessed year.

Hong Kong Disneyland
It was good to be in Disenyland once again. I think I was more excited than my boys. What made it more exciting was my globe-trotting brother decided to fly from Taiwan to join us particularly to Disneyland. My previous trips to Disneyland - Anaheim (1990)& Tokyo (1995) - were also with him, and he's the best travel companion one could have.
We had lunch at Clopin's Festival of Foods'. This is the BBQ duck,

It's A Small World after all!
Between the two Disney hotels, we gravitated towards the Hollywood-theme that is Disney Hollywood Hotel. Everything is Mickey-shaped, from lamps to elevator buttons. I love the complimentary toiletry and slippers for 2 adults & 1 child.
Out and about the hotel
We hopped between the hotels via shuttlebus. We checked out the Mickey Maze inside Disneyland Hotel. The Grand Salon was grandeur indeed, with the huge Christmas tree and life-size gingerbread house
We dined at Chef Mickey. Everything's too cute to eat.
We did all the best rides we could at Disneyland. We took pictures with the mascots, of course! The line-up was pretty descent.

and chicken wings noodle soup

Took the MTR to Kowloon. The MTR Sunny Bay-Disneyland leg has everything Mickey as well.
